Michael J. Flynn founded the company in 1989 and remains the majority shareholder of the group. He has spent most of his working life leading the company from a specialist geosynthetics solutions provider in Ireland, UK, the continent and around the world, to the multi-faceted group that FLI is today.
Michael is a leader, a risk taker, a motivator and a strong believer in personal development, team building and knowledge transfer. He has built a strong diversified company and a strong management team. In 2012 he appointed a group CEO to complement the existing management team and to lead the company in the next chapter of its growth and development.
Michael’s original 3rd level education is in electronic engineering but his early working career was as a project manager on geomembrane and geosynthetic installation projects globally when working for Schlegel Lining Technology now GSE Environmental from 1983 to 1987.
Michael is a member of the Ernst & Young Global Entrepreneurship Alumnus since 2006. In 2008/9 he completed a government sponsored leadership program run by Enterprise Ireland and led by Duke corporate education focused on scaling a business in the global market. In 2011 Michael achieved a diploma in international selling from DIT, Dublin. He remains committed to management development and is committed to undertaking a master’s degree from late 2013 in management development.
